received wrong parts

Postby terridiblasi » Tue Mar 09, 2010 3:19 pm

we ordered a ring and pinion gearset for a 2003 tundra 4 wheel drive V8. when ordering, your web site said it required part YUK:YGTV6-488.
when the part arrived it did not fit and the sticker on the box said it was for a tacoma & 4 runner. How do we send this part back and get
the correct one. We have been trying to call the 800 number for a week and can not get through. We have left several messages and did
not receive a call back. Please answer asap so we can resolve this.

thank you,

There are two different types of rear axle models for your vehicle that are also used in different Toyota truck applications. There is the model commonly referred to in the aftermarket as the Tacoma 8" and another model referred to as the TRD Locker 8". The part number of the gear that you provided is the one used in the TRD Locker model.

Some later applications (TRD Locker style models) require a new yoke to adapt to aftermarket gears. If the inner and outer pinion bearings are compatible with the gear you received, this may be the case. (If this is the case, we may be able to provide the adapter yoke to you at no charge. You can reply to this thread if you can verify that this will resolve your issue.)

If the actual pinion stem diameter is larger on your original pinion then you would have the Non-TRD standard axle requiring the Tacoma style 8" standard gears.

The phone sales/tech staff are not authorized to issue return authorizations. Please visit the Returns Information page for step-by-step procedure to return your parts if necessary.

OK, the pinion stem diameter is larger on our truck so I guess we would have to send this one back and order the correct one. I will fill out the form for the return auth., do I have to re-order the
correct part or do you just send it.

Thanks,
Terri

You can order the replacement part at any time. If you order the replacement part before you send your return, there is no restocking fee charged. There is an area on the return form to indicate the new order# to show that the part has been reordered.

As long as your vehicle 'is not' equipped with a factory push-button locker differential and you want a 4.88 gear ratio for your rear axle, that is the correct part number.
