Postby Barr_inc@yahoo.com » Thu Jul 29, 2010 12:17 pm

I am trying to figure out what gears My truck came with stock So I can put them back in. the code on my vin plate is G252. I Havn't been able to decode that and my local dealer is useless. If you could advise me on what gear ratio I need so I can order my ring gear and pinion gear. I would appreciate it. its a 1991 toyota short bed 4x4 with the 4 cyl 2.4 22re motor. And an automatic transmission. Thanks so much

By the code it is a standard 8" with 4.556 (4.56) rear ratio. There should be several options listed for you from standard aftermarket replacements (Accu) to heavy duty (Midwest & Yukon brands).

In addition to the ring and pinion set you also will need an installation kit. You can choose a minor kit (no bearings) or a master kit (with bearings).
